Why Einstein Over Carlin

Dear Editor,

I am glad to see you were amused. As to George Carlin only being famous for the seven bad words, you must have forgotten all of the albums, HBO specials, comedy tours and TV appearances where he had millions of people laughing in the aisles over normal everyday stupid stuff. Regardless of that, I knew someone would bring it around to the oilfield and use the same old lame argument. That is why I stated “Let’s see someone add all of this up and see if it is really worth it. I expect some will take offense at this and start a rant about how we are ruining the earth, but, before they do please do the math.” Do the math Mr. Yeager. We have been building oil rigs and platforms for about 60 years for offshore use. We know what the cost is. Do we know the cost of going green? It seems like a simple question to me.

Nobody knows, but everyone in government agrees that costs of energy will increase.

I would just like to know by how much which is a simple question. Oh, and by the way while you try to look smart by quoting one of the greatest minds of all times please remember he was pretty funny; also, remember his poster with him sticking out his tongue.
