Redfern Man Arrested In Attempted Assault

A Redfern Houses resident was arrested last week after he threatened to rough up a female acquaintance that had an order of protection filed against him, according to police.

Police arrested Dashawn Boyd, 19, inside 12-70 Redfern Avenue last Saturday at 2:30 a.m. after he violated the order of protection police had on file that resulted from a robbery of the victim back in May.

According to the female complainant, Boyd approached her outside the Redfern Houses while she was sitting on a bench and said, “Go get your baby’s father, your grandfather, I don’t give a f***, I’m gonna slap the sh** out of you.”

That’s when Boyd allegedly swung his hand and attempted to slap her. He has been charged with criminal contempt and attem-pted assault. His bail was set at $75,000 and is due back in court on August 11, according to a spokesperson for Queens District Attorney Richard Brown.
