Calls To ARTSPLASH And Inksplash
Commentary by Susan Hartenstein

Calls to Artists:

Yes, the time is finally here to become a part of ARTSPLASH 2010, the annual multimedia arts event for which RAA has received so much praise. A juried exhibition of original works, ARTSPLASH is a major showcase for visual and performing artists whose work will be presented in the sTudio 6 and sTudio 7 galleries, the outdoor sculpture garden and on the indoor and outdoor stages at the Rockaway Center for the Arts (RoCA) at Fort Tilden. It is open to all media. On view September 12 through October 10, 2010, ARTSPLASH 2010 is presented in partnership with the National Park Service / Gateway National Recreation Area. Full prospectus and entry forms are available in the RAA office or online. Deadline to submit entries: August 13, 2010. For more information visit us @ www.rockawayartistsalliance.org

Last year’s inaugural presentation of InkSplash was reviewed in the pages of the prestigious Journal of the Print World. The Rockaway Artists Alliance (RAA) invites all printmakers who reside in New York State only, to submit entries for InkSplash 2010 (October 9 - November 7, 2010). The juried exhibition is to feature original print works in printmaking techniques such as intaglio, monoprint, etching and original experimental technique, by master printmakers finding definition in a changing world. Excluded are photographs, reproductions or giclee prints. InkSplash will be on view in sTudio 6 Gallery, RoCA at Fort Tilden, presented in partnership with the National Park Service / Gateway National Recreation Area. Christian Le Gars, the master printmaker who curated last year’s show also curates the show this year.

RAA hopes to publish a catalog for InkSplash 2010, each artist to be given a free copy. If you are interested in participating in the catalog, please send a high resolution photograph (300pixs) with a short description of the piece, a brief artist statement about the work, and a brief biography (300 words or less). You will be asked to sign a waiver allowing the use of the image.

All submitted images, including the high res photo, need to be on a CD for consideration of entry for Inksplash 2010. Entry forms are available in the RAA office or online.

Deadline to submit entries: end of August 2010.
