Sandcastle Contest A Big Hit With Kids And Adults

The annual sandcastle contest, sponsored once again by West End Realty, the Department of Parks and Recreation and HSBC Bank, wa s hel d last Sunday , Jul y 2 6 a t the Beach 118 Street oceanfront. A panel of judges that included Rob Miller, the coach of the New York Aviators, and several Parks Department officials looked over dozens of sand sculptures before coming to a decision. The winners received trophies, but everybody who participated got a medal.

The winners were Cameron Huang-Romero and Winnie Huang in the ages 1 through 8 with adult help ; Eddi e Pel l an d Chri s Popol o in the ages 9 through 13 with adult help ; Cecili a an d Rand y Hanso n in the 9 through 13 without adult help category; and seven women from the United Kingdom, Holly Fowler, Charlotte Wales, Alice Herzog, Lauren Irving, Honour Fitzsimmons, Al i Rodne y an d Cec e LeBom b i n the adult category.
