Vacation Bible School Underway At First Congregational Church

Local children and their parents are creating some great summer memories together in the free, five-week vacation bible school program that began last week at First Congregational Church of Rockaway Beach. Director Rebekkah Rodriguez- Thompson, a certified elementary school teacher, has designed a program for ages 3-5 that focuses on early literacy and numeracy development, supplemented with creative arts and active play opportunities, plus regular field excursions. Indoor and outdoor activities are taking place, depending on the weather.

The vacation bible school welcomes children with their parents, Monday- Thursday from 10 a.m. to 12:00 noon, through August 12, at 320 Beach 94 Street. The program is being offered to the community free of charge, due to generous church members who are donating their time and talents, plus the funds to purchase supplies and refreshments. A neighborhood community service opportunity for all participating families will be the culmination of the program. Rodriguez- Thompson says it is not too late to join in the fun.
