Boardwalk ‘Paint Out’ Brings Out The Artist In Everyone

On July 13, Art Adventures and More presented a Paint Out on the boardwalk at Beach 73 Street in Arverne. This was their “Second Annual En Plein Air,“ a French phrase meaning “in the open air.” It is a tradition of painting directly from life and striving to explore and respond to the beauty that we view. The event was sponsored by Arverne by the Sea and the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation. Instruction in acrylic painting and demonstrations were provided by artists and informational hand-outs were distributed. The Paint Out displayed a valuable community-building event; more than 125 people of all ages and from diverse cultures participated. Co-founders of Art Adventures and More, Mandy Francin and Sophia Skeans, are passionate about inspiring all on the vital importance of the arts in society.
