John B. Ivey

Ship Welder

John B. Ivey, 77, a 19-year Rockaway resident, died June 26.

Ivy was born on December 25, 1932 in Crawfordville, Georgia. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army and worked as a ship welder in the Philadelphia Naval Yard until he retired. Ivey was also a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church.

Ivey is survived by his daughters, Barbara Parris, Susan Thomas, Clara J. Ivey, Johnie Belinda Ivey, Mary M. Ivey and Jacqueline Ivey; sons-in-law, George Parris, Willie Thomas, Philip Lawson and Earnest Cowan; grandchildren, Jacquel Ivey, Krystal Ivey, Sabrina Parris, Willie Thomas, Ryan Thomas; great-grandchildren, Jesse Parris, Isis and Iris Ivey, Kalaya Johnson and Keyla Johnson and Baby Girl Thomas; and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral arrangements and memorial service were entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney Friendship Chapel, Inwood, New York. Interment took place at Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, New York.
