Elmer F. Duemig

Brewery Worker

Elmer F. Duemig, a longtime Rockaway resident, died July 9.

Duemig was born in Brooklyn, New York, and was a resident of Roxbury and Rockaway Point since 1958. A WWII veteran, he served in the Army Air Corps. Duemig was also one of the oldest members of the Roxbury Volunteer Fire Department, played semi-professional baseball, was a member of the VFW Rockaway Point, and a member of the Roxbury Mayors Committee. Duemig worked as a filler man for Rheingold Brewery.

Duemig was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys; and brother, Everette.

Duemig is survived by his son, Thomas Duemig (Pat); daughter, Marie Fallon; one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Denis S. O’ Connor Funeral Home, Rockaway Beach. A funeral mass was held at St. Genevieve Church, Roxbury. Interment took place at Long Island National Cemetery, Farmingdale, New York.
