Sanders Announces Budgetary Allocations
Expanding on his efforts in support of senior and youth development, as well as educational improvement, Councilman James Sanders Jr. announced that he has secured funding for several major new initiatives throughout the Rockaway portion of the 31st Council District.
According to a spokesperson, “The Councilman has worked tirelessly to devote close to $2 million for the construction of a two story building to house the new Arverne YMCA in Rockaway Beach. The Councilman has also devoted nearly $1.8 million to purchase new computers and $1.5 million for the construction of new science labs in schools throughout the area.”
Sanders said, “Our youth and our elders are two of our society’s most precious assets. They give us the keys to our future and our past. That’s why I am going to continue to work and fight every day to make sure that our kids and our seniors have the same opportunities for growth, development and recreation as the rest of the city.”
This year, the spokesperson said, Sanders has delivered $4,215,000 for schools and education funding throughout the district, including $1,800,000 from the School Construction Authority for technology enhancements. The Councilman also secured more than $100,000 for new programming for senior citizens.
