Sanders Hosts Concert At FRHS

City Councilman James Sanders City Councilman James Sanders City Councilman James Sanders, Jr. has announced that he will host the fourth annual Garvey-Tubman Music Series beginning on Saturday, July 10 at 3 p.m., at Far Rockaway High School, located at 821 Bay 25 Street.

The free concert will be headlined by the legendary American funk band War, and co-hosted by the Margaret Community Corporation.

“I’m extremely proud to be hosting the Garvey-Tubman Music Series for the fourth year,” said Sanders. “When I started this series, it was my hope that it would provide my constituents with a free, family friendly environment for great live music and entertainment for everyone from grandma to the grandkids, and it’s wonderful that we’ve achieved that goal. This year, we are very excited to have War as our headline act, and to introduce a whole new generation to hits like ‘Why Can’t We Be Friends’, ‘Spill the Wine’, and ‘Low Rider.’”

The concert is open to all residents of the 31st City Council District, which includes much of Rockaway. It will also feature local artists.

Concert goers can pick up their free tickets at the Councilman’s District office, located at 234-26, Merrick Blvd., in Laurelton, or in Far Rockaway at the Margaret Community Corporation, located at 325 Beach 37 Street or the Councilman’s office at 21-23 Birdsall Avenue.
