Ulrich Announces Budget Appropriations
Despite limited resources from the State, and a lack of declining federal stimulus dollars, City Councilmember Eric A. Ulrich is proud to announce the adoption of the city’s budget for Fiscal Year 2011.
In response to the Mayor’s proposed cuts to various city agencies, the Council restorations are in keeping with the most critical services in the interest of protecting children, maintaining public safety and keeping libraries open. As a result of yesterday’s passage, more than 200 Administration Children’s Services (ACS) positions, as well as 3,000 preventive slots will be restored. Library service, a long standing priority of Speaker Quinn and Councilmember Ulrich, will be preserved across the City at five days a week. The budget agreement between Mayor Bloomberg and the City Council also includes funding to avoid the closure of more than two dozen fire companies across the city.
