Eager Kids Learn Game Of Basketball At Jump Start Camp


It was an exciting time for 170 boys and girls who gathered at Riis Park for the week long Jump Start Basketball Camp. The camp was held for boys who are enrolled from kindergarten through the sixth grade and kindergarten through the eighth for girls. The kids who learned the fundamentals of the game, gain skill development and play 3 on 3 games. The camp was conducted by Jill Cook, assistant coach at Christ the King High School, and featured former Royals basketball stars such as Clare Droesch and Jael Pena as instructors. Bob Leckie, who coached at Bishop Loughlin and St. Peter‘s College gave tips to the youngsters, along with coaches from Hofstra University, St John’s University and St Francis College.
