Attempted Break-in

Dear Editor,

On Sunday after midnight my fiancé and I arrived to our home. At 1 a.m. I went down stairs to get a drink of water and saw a light flashing towards the porch. I immediately went to door and saw two young Caucasian males attempting to break into our vehicle. I walked outside and called to their attention. As I summoned them to stop, one ran away. I ordered the other individual to stop and instructed him sit on the steps of the porch. To my disbelief he did. However, as I turned around to open the door and yelled out to my fiancé to call 911 he got up and ran away.

As I took that mental picture of him I will never forget that face. We spoke to my fiancé’s coworker and she sent us this email from a friend whose vehicle was broken into on Beach 120 street that same night.

We reside on Beach 128 street.

“I just wanted to warn everyone that my car was broken into last night while on my lawn and close to the front door! Take out your valuables! Please inform the community to please take these preventive measures.”

“Remove your valuables from your

vehicle including your purse. If you hear a strange noise outside be discreet and check. Whatever you do don’t ever confront, call 911.”

Sound advice. Considering

Sound advice. Considering just how much like the "bad old days" NYC is returning to, I'd recommend steering locks too.
