Empire Girls State Forum

Assemblywoman Audrey I. Pheffer met with the 11 local participants of this year’s Empire Girls State Forum being held in Brockport, NY. The girls, all high school juniors, will spend a week learning the political process. They form their own “state” and hold elections for office and learn how state government is run. This program was instituted by the American Legion to promote Americanism in young people. Forty-nine states now participate in the program. At the end of the week each delegation votes for two to attend Girls Nation in Washington, DC.
