Jack Pearce Jr.
Jack Pearce Jr., 67, a longtime Rockaway resident, died June 14.
Pearce was born on July 5, 1942 in Orangeburg, South Carolina. He worked as a police officer and served in the U.S. Army for three years after graduating from Far Rockaway High School in 1961. He later became a member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Arverne.
He is survived by his children, Craig, John, Zachary, Deidre (Dorian), Jacqueline, Kirby and Joanne; mother, Mattie L. Pearse of Far Rockaway; sisters, Willo Dean Moorer and Elizabeth Pearse of Far Rockaway, Josephine Williams and Eula Vanager of Hempstead, New York, Mary (Samuel) Davis of Chesapeake, Virginia, Shirley Pearse and Earnestine Pearse of London, England; aunt, Mary (Walter) Thomas of Arverne; grandchildren, Tyshawn, Jamel, Starrief, D’Zya, Doria and Xylia; godson, Sergeant 1st Class Samuel Thomas III (Bridgett) of Richmond, Virginia; and caregiver, Diana Williams.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney Friendship Chapel, Inwood, New York. Visitation and funeral services took place at Bethel AME Church, Far Rockaway. Interment took place at Pinelawn Cemetery, Farmingdale, New York.
