Bahij Muhammad, 54, a longtime Rockaway resident, died June 3.
Muhammad was born on February 11, 1956 in Harlem, New York. Muhammad lived in Rockaway for 20 years, and was structural maintainer with the New York City Transportation Authority. He was a member of the NAACP and TWU Local 100.
Muhammad was preceded in death by his father, George Whaley and brother, David Lee.
He is survived by his daughters, Fatima, Sumayyieh, and Zainab; sonin law, William Jackson; grand daughter, Demiah Rachelle Jackson; companion, Brenda Carothers; 16 brothers and sisters; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral arrangements remained private. Interment took place at Washington Memorial Park, Coram, New York.
