moe. Comes To Westbury
Live Nation presents the feel good, jam band moe. at the Theatre at Westbury on Saturday, July 3 at 8 p.m. The jam band moe was formed at the University at Buffalo in 1989 and features Rob Derhak (bass, vocals), Al Schnier (guitar, vocals, and keyboard), Chuck Garvey (guitar, vocals), Vinnie Amico
drums), and Jim Loughlin (percussion). The band released their first album in 1992, Fatboy. The album solidified moe. as one of the top jam and improvisational rock bands of the 1990’s. Their avid fans are lovingly referred to as the “moe.rons.” They have appeared in concert with bands such as The Allman Brothers and The Who and have performed at Woodstock in 1999 and in Central Park. Their current release is Smash Hits, vol. 1 which features a number of their early hits including “okayalright” and “Captain America.” Other fan favorites are “New York City,” and a cover version of “In a Big Country” both from their album, Dither. Throughout their career they have hosted numerous jam band festivals including moe.lennium in December of 1999. Snoe.down took place in March of 2006 and kicked off the week long Adirondack Almost Springfest celebration in Lake Placid, New York. Their moe.down festival is an annual event that takes place in Turin, New York. The band also received a Jammy Award for their 2003 Bonnaroo performance.
