Knights of Columbus Religious Statue Vandalized

By Nicholas Briano

Officials from The Knights of Columbus Hall in Rockaway Beach came to their hall on Friday afternoon to discover that their statue of Jesus Christ had been vandalized.

Knights of Columbus members believe that the vandals sawed off the hand and chin of the concrete statue sometime in the overnight hours between Thursday, June 10 and Friday morning, June 11.

No video or surveillance was recovered from the scene. In addition to the statue being vandalized, two glass vases were also broken at the base of the monument, which is located outside the parking lot of the hall located at 333 Beach 90 Street. The Knights of Columbus say that anyone who has information leading to the apprehension and conviction of a person or persons responsible for vandalizing the statue will be paid a reward of $1000, or a proportionate share thereof if more than one claimant is entitled. The Knights Of Columbus ask that anyone with credible information call Andy McCracken at 718-634-3699.
