Local Students Graduate Tulane University
Tulane University in New Orleans awarded degrees this month to approximately 2,150 graduates, including the following local students:
John Crew of Jamaica (11436) graduated from Tulane University with a Juris Doctor degree; Cara O’Donnell of Rockaway Park (11694) graduated from Tulane University School of Architecture with a Five-year Master of Architecture degree.
Tulane’s Unified Commencement was held on May 15 in the Louisiana Superdome. The ceremony featured keynote speaker Anderson Cooper and honorary degree recipients U.S. Surgeon General Regina Benjamin, Harlem children’s Zone CEO and President Geoffrey Canada and John Ruffin, director of the National Institute on Minority Health and Heath Disparities.
These local students and fellow class members were honored at the ceremony, which included all the pomp and circumstances of a traditional commencement but with a New Orleans twist, including bagpipes, herald trumpets and a second-line jazz procession.
