PHC And PCECR Employees Of Excellence
Debra Hoyte, CAN, Peninsula Hospital Center and Marie Desir, LPN, Peninsula Center for Extended Care and Rehabilitation, recently received honors as the Employees of Excellence for the second quarter of the year.
Hoyte has been employed at Peninsula Hospital Center for nearly 39 years. She began at PHC as a student and has worked on many units in the hospital, currently in Telemetry. “This job was my first and only job,” says Hoyte, “and I love it here.” She is particularly fond of her patients and loves taking care of them. “I think I was destined to care for people,” she explains, “and although my husband is now retired, I plan on working for a while yet at PHC.”
Her colleagues and peers listed her many attributes, particularly her ability to work well in a team. The honoree has three grown children who are very quick to point out that their mom’s second home and second family can be found at Peninsula Hospital Center.
Marie Desir, LPN, is an outstanding member of the nursing staff at Peninsula Center for Extended Care and Rehabilitation. She is extremely well respected by her peers and very well liked by her patients.
Desir has been at PCECR for 20 years, currently working in 2 Bay, a rehabilitation unit, and loves the type of work she does each day. “It is all about team work,” says Desir. “All of us love to see the progress patients make each day and we feel a part of their success. It’s a very good feeling to watch them return home to their families knowing that we helped.”
As with many employees, Desir has made very close friends over the years at PCECR and very clearly states they have become like family.
