Rockaway United Team Shuts Out Downtown United

The Rockaway United Football Club’s U10 boys dominated the Downtown United Soccer Club this past Saturday on a sunny, sizzling spring day at Fort Tilden.

The RUFC boys dominated the game with solid defense, allowing the DUSC squad to get off only three shots on goal. The offensive pressure from the peninsula squad proved too much for Downtown to ever get started or put anything together. Anytime that DU attempted to jumpstart their offense with a counterattack the likes of Emmitt Espisito, Griffin Skammel and Joe Braskey proved impenetrable because of their positioning and great touches on the ball whenever Downtown tried to start their engines.

Gerard Rodman’s fancy footwork with the ball and blistering speed made him the unstoppable force on this day as he scored twice, once on a beautiful corner set up by Conner Baldwin. Owen Comer powered in his first goal of season and Jack MacNamee and Jag Guiderelli were all over the field as usual as the RUFC cruised to a 4-0 victory.
