Colgate Van Returns To PHC
The van was staffed by Peninsula Hospital personnel who provided over 200 students with free dental screenings, treatment referrals and oral health education. The elementary school children of PS 105 had the opportunity to board the van and learn about the various components of the van itself, dental hygiene and the importance of regular dental visits. As each child came on board, they received a brief pep talk on why and how to brush their teeth and the importance of taking care of their mouths. In addition, each child received a basic “looksee” dental examination with the results given to the children to bring home to their parents for review. Everyone left the van with a toothbrush, toothpaste, a brushing chart and coupons courtesy of the Colgate Company.
