Caption: “Man of Letters,” photographic illustration by Jessica Schulman, on display in “Left Brain/Right Brain” in sTudio 7, Fort Tilden, RoCA. Presently on view at the Rockaway Center for the Arts (RoCA) are two exhibitions. “Paintings by Susan De Castro,” a solo show about which I wrote last week, is in sTudio 6 through June 27. In sTudio 7 Gallery is “Left Brain/Right Brain,” exploring the dynamic of logic and intuition, the interplay of reason and order versus passion and emotion, the sensual and the cerebral. This juried exhibition delves into both our rational and structured endeavors (Left Brain) and our creative, emotionally informed pursuits (Right Brain) and further dares to peek at where these hemispheres cross and intersect. (I wonder if there is a black stripe painted down the center of the brain like on a gymnasium floor?) The exhibit runs through June 26. More about this exhibit next week.

Thanks to the wonderful Exhibitions Committee and to all of RAA’s friends and supporters for another successful opening reception on Sunday. Kudos to the talented members of the Writers Group for their special Sunday presentation.

Wanted: Caricaturist for a book launch/children’s event in sTudio 7, on Sunday, June 27. If interested please contact: sjhaggerty@hybfamilies.com
