Two Busted For Belle Harbor Break-In

By Howard Schwach

Two women were busted on May 20 when they were found inside the porch of a Belle Harbor home at 1:20 a.m.

Susan Rizzo, who lives in the Beach 126 Street home, was awakened by noise early on the morning of May 20.

When she went downstairs, court records show she saw Megan Murtagh, 24, of Beach 126 Street, inside her locked porch and her cohort, Jennifer Polizzi, 28, of Rocky Point, Long Island, standing just outside the porch.

After calling the 911 emergency system, Rizzo opened the door from her home to the porch and confronted Murtagh. Court records show that Murtagh pushed Rizzo in an attempt to get into the house.

Rizzo told police that Murtagh had forced a hole in the screen door on the porch to gain entry. Police responding to the scene found heroin in a glassine envelope in Murtagh’s purse.

Both Murtagh and Pollizzi were arraigned in Queens Criminal Court on May 20.

According to a spokesperson for Queens District Attorney Richard Brown, Murtagh was charged with attempted burglary, burglary, criminal mischief and criminal possession of a controlled substance. Pollizzi was charged with attempted burglary, criminal mischief and trespass. The two were held on $5,000 bail for their next hearing, which is set for next week.
