Rockaway Little League Update
After getting thumped by the Giants last week, Rose’s Reds beat the Marlins 9-6 in a come from behind victory on Sunday. Strong pitching from TJ Powderly and John Moran helped the Reds stay in the game. Max Brown, Riley Siederman, Tommy Woods and Sal Lalumia helped ignite the rally.
Back to back to back doubles by Robbie Rose, Powderly and Moran put the game away in the 5 run 5th. Timmy Connolly picked up his first save of the year with a 1-2-3 6th by striking out the side.
For the Marlins, James Carlton was his usual unhittable self in the early innings and Charlie Bostwick hit a two run blast to put the Marlins ahead temporarily. Justin Carricato and Chris Koenig were on base all day but just couldn’t overcome the Reds late inning rally.
The Diamondbacks in the PWS division have defended their record. They are now 6-0-1. They defeated the Jays 7-3, led by outstanding hitting and the pitching of Jack Allen. Jack went 3 for 3 with 4 RBIs and pitched two scoreless innings. The Diamondbacks surrendered only three runs. The game would have been close if not for the superb catching of Kyle Duffy and the great defense of Bryan McGinn and Thomas McGinn.
