Police Response Time

Dear Editor,

I would like to know, how it is possible for the police from the 100 Precinct to have a slower response time than those from the 101 Precinct. On Monday, May 31, 2010 at approximately 7 p.m. four different people from Beach 91 Street called 911 to report people running and fighting on the train tracks between Beach 90 and Beach 92 Street. The 911 operator did not understand the concept of where Rockaway Freeway was located. Once the police responded they were not from the 100 Precinct (four blocks away) but rather from the 101 Precinct.

This to me seems a little crazy that the precinct from Far Rockaway would and could react quicker than the precinct that is only four blocks away.
