Pheffer’s Club Demonstrates Voting Machine

Beginning September of 2010, all elections in New York City will be conducted using new election machines. The old, antiquated machines with the “lever pulls’ have been eliminated. The new machines are optical scanners and will be used starting September of this year. Many questions and concerns have arisen regarding educating the voter on the proper usage of the new procedures for voting.

In order to ensure that voters are educated and aware of the new process, the Harry S Truman Regular Democratic Club will be hosting an open meeting on June 6, 2010, at 2:00pm, 20-28 Seagirt Boulevard, Far Rockaway. Representatives of the Board of Elections will be on hand to demonstrate the new machines and their proper use. The public will be able to see first hand, how the new machines will work and the new process for casting your vote.

“Educating the voters on the correct procedures is paramount to ensuring that all votes are accurately and property counted,” said District Leader Assemblywoman Audrey Pheffer, who hosts the local club.

“I welcome and encourage all to attend this very important demonstration.”

This new process has also created some additional positions at the local polling locations. Anyone who is interested in working as an Election Day Inspector is invited to attend the meeting and speak with Assemblywoman Pheffer.
