Working with MillionTreesNYC, a PlaNYC initiative in partnership with NYC Parks and New York Restoration Project (NYRP), Peninsula Hospital Center and Peninsula Center for Extended Care and Rehabilitation had 40 new trees planted on the hospital campus this spring. The trees were donated and planted by NYRP, and the project included a mix of shade trees and flowering trees to both beautify the grounds and increase the tree canopy coverage. The new trees have been planted along the perimeter of the PCECR and in the back to shade the garden area. Led by and NYRP and NYC Parks, MillionTreesNYC is a citywide, public-private program with an ambitious goal: to plant and care for one million new trees across the City’s five boroughs by 2017. To date, over 350,000 trees have been planted as part of this initiative.
