Dredging Continues In Rockaway Inlet

Dredging vessels and pipes remain anchored in the Rockaway Inlet as pleasure boats take to the water on Memorial Day. Despite promises that the dredging would be completed by the opening of beach season, beachgoers were greeted by the apparatus when they came to enjoy the lower end of Rockaway Beach last weekend. Work resumed on Tuesday and vessels were spotted near the shoreline of the beach near Beach 15 Street. The Department of Parks and Recreation did not return a request for comment.
