Surfer Saves Three From Ocean Currents

Three people are alive today thanks to the quick action of a Rockaway surfer who saw the three in trouble about 150 feet from the shore on Wednesday and paddled them to safety. “I saw them being pulled out and they were sinking,” surfer Carlos Rodriquez told The Wave shortly after the rescue. “I paddled out to them and put one on each side of the surfboard and one on the tail. Then, I paddled for my life to shore with them hanging on.” By the time Rodriquez got the two boys and one girl to shore, they were met by EMS, NYPD and FDNY units. All three were treated and released on the beach. Pictured, Rodriquez on the beach with onlookers.
