BCAC St.Camilus/St. Virgilius Shamrocks Defeat Blessed Trinity

On Saturday, May 1, the BCAC St.Camillus/St. Virgilius Shamrocks traveled to Breezy Point for their first baseball game of the year against Blessed Trinity. A quirky CYO schedule and one rainout delayed the start of the season for the Shamrocks, who used the extra time off to fine tune there game.

The runs came early and often for the Shamrocks as Jason Kinneary hit two home runs while driving in seven. Rookie Kevin Moriarity had a huge debut with a home run of his own, while providing tough defense behind the plate. Riley Steiner and Cristopher Lalli each drove in runs with some timely hitting. The Shamrocks would score 12 runs on the day, with contributions up and down the lineup.

The pitching and defense were bright spots as well, with Mike O’Connell and Matt McCabe helping to keep Blessed Trinity’s bats quiet. In the field Bryan Bostwick and Jack Allen flashed some serious leather in what was a very solid game overall for the Shamrocks in a 12-4 victory.

This weekend the Shamrocks have two games scheduled; Saturday morning on the road against St. Anastasia, and Sunday afternoon at home against St. Luke’s.

A spokesperson for the Shamrocks wishes to say, “Happy Mother’s Day to all the Shamrock Moms and WHO ROCKS??? SHAMROCKS!!!!!!”
