Edward Allen Mac Saveny, 82, a longtime Rockaway resident, died April 30.

Mac Saveny was born in Inwood, New York on December 29, 1927 and was a resident of Bellmore, New York and Rockaway Point. He worked as a detective for the Nassau County Police Department and after retirement, worked as a U.S. Customs Official. He also served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Mac Saveny was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia; and son, John.

He is survived by his daughters, Virginia Donnelly (John), Nancy Cusack (Andrew) and Ann Daly (Thomas); son, Allen Mac Saveny (Karen); grandchildren, Allen and Diane Mac Saveny, Patrick Cusack, Kyle and Ryan Daly.

Funeral arrangements and interment remained private. A memorial service will take place at St. Genevieve Church, Roxbury on Friday, May 7 at 12 noon.
