A number of veterans have come to The Wave to complain that many of Rockaway’s flagpoles are sans flags. They wonder whether this is an oversight or a way for the government to save a couple of bucks. Frank Farrell, a Vietnamera vet went one step further and brought these photos to The Wave. Pictured, the flagpole on the Riis Park Bathhouse, a federal park facility. Even the Doughboy Monument on Beach 95 Street, a memorial to those locals who died in WW I, is missing its flag. The New NYPD Transit District 23 Headquarters on Beach 116 Street may not even have a flagpole. The Parks Department playground on Shore Front Parkway at Beach 74 Street is missing a few flags.
