UHF Honors SJEH Volunteers
John’s Episcopal Hospital volunteer Ruth Hamburger was honored at the Hospital Auxilian and Volunteer Achievement Award Ceremony held by the United Hospital Fund at the Grand Ballroom of The Waldorf-Astoria in New York City on Friday, March 19. Hamburger has been a volunteer at St. John’s for 15 years.
“We are very proud to nominate Ms. Hamburger to represent our volunteers at the United Hospital Fund Award Ceremony,” said Eric Matza, Vice President of Development and Public Relations, St. John’s Episcopal Hospital.
“Ms. Hamburger donates her time and energy and serves the community and Hospital well. She helps patients navigate the Hospital and makes their experience here that much better.”
Hamburger escorts patients to their varied destinations in the Hospital facility and provides office support in the Admitting Department.
She has also volunteered as a tutor in a public school and at a nursing home as well. In 2008 she received the “President’s Call to Service Award” from the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) for having donated more than 4,000 hours of service and for making a difference in people’s lives.
