Summer Youth Employment Program Available
Assemblywoman Audrey I. Pheffer is pleased to announce that the City of New York Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) will again be offering job positions through the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP).
The Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) provides New York City youth between the ages of 14 and 24 with summer employment and educational opportunities. “SYEP is a wonderful opportunity for our youth to acquire work experience and life skills that can only be gained through the responsibility of employment,” said Pheffer. SYEP will operate for seven weeks, from July 6, 2010 through August 20, 2010. Any New Yorker between the ages of 14 and 24, and residing within the five boroughs, is eligible to apply for a summer job.
The program will operate five days a week for a total of 20 to 25 hours and the hourly rate of pay is $7.25. Participants are also required to attend 17 hours of workshops.
Those interested in applying for a position can apply directly online, or download an application from the City’s website, www.nyc.gov/dycd. Applications are also available from, and can be returned to, any SYEP provider. A list of providers is also available on the website. The deadline for applications is May 21, 2010.
