Brothers Help St. Edmund Prep Golf Team
Senior Andrew Prianti and his freshman brother Alec took to the course together for the St. Edmund Prep varsity golf team. The Prianti duo played alongside each other as the Eagles took on Christ the King in a non league match at Forest Park Golf Course on Wednesday, April 21.
It is believed to be the first time brothers played together on the links in a match for St. Edmund Prep. The family affair was cut short by Mother Nature as the rain ended the matches before victors could be determined.
Andrew, the team’s co-captain has been a four year starter and has been one of the team’s best ball strikers since his freshman year. Younger brother Alec played very well in his inaugural match and is expected to help the Eagles over the next four seasons.
St. Edmund Prep has been helped by strong play from senior co-captain Mike Brennan, junior Mike Maranga and sophomore’s Nick Suslak and CJ Carey.
Suslak opened his season with a dominating 5 and 3 victory over McClancy High School at Clearview Golf Course. He got off to an early start in the match and used his steady nerves to play fairways and greens the rest of the way for the win.
CJ Carey also got out of the gate quick with a victory in the opening match and followed it up with another win in the follow up game against Mc- Clancy. He lost a tough match to St. Francis Prep but is currently leading the team with a 2-1 record.
Nick Saladino grabbed a victory, and played well along with fellow sophomores Bryan Hinton, Justin Musummara and James Ciullo.
The Eagles will take on St. Francis Prep at Douglaston Golf Course on Monday, May 3. Then they will have back to back matches at Marine Park Golf Course on the May 4 and 5 versus Holy Cross High School and Christ the King High School respectively.
