George L. Greco Honored By HeartShare
George L. Greco, member of the Board of Directors of Peninsula Hospital Center and Rockaway resident, was honored by HeartShare Human Services of New York on March 25. Greco was presented with the Monsignor Thomas G. Hagerty Humanitarian Award by Dominick J. Lavacca, former president of Carpenter Local Union 345 and former Director of Organizing for the NYC District Carpenters and Joiners of America. Lavacca praised Greco for his outstanding community service, his support of law enforcement, his craftsmanship and his many contributions to a wide spectrum of organizational boards.
Greco is the principal owner of Midhattan Woodworking Corporation and serves as a member of the New York City District Council of Carpenters and Joiners of America Benefit Funds. Since 1999, he has served as a member of Peninsula Hospital Center’s Board of Directors and continues to be a good friend, benefactor and patron of the Hospital Center. HeartShare Human Services of New York was founded 96 years ago and promotes self-sufficiency and responsibility through services to nearly 30,000 children and adults and their families throughout New York. Its services include early childhood centers, residential services, family support services, foster care and adoptive services, youth and beacon programs and wellness centers. Greco joins a list of illustrious honorees such as Douglas Fairbanks Jr., Rosie O’Donnell, Alfonso DeMatteis, Regis and Joy Philbin, Linda Dano, Susan Lucci and Anthony Quinn.
