BCHS Students Donate Quilts Of Hope

Teens from the Vocational Sewing Club at Beach Channel High School spread warmth and very good cheer at Peninsula Center for Extended Care and Rehabilitation recently when they delivered beautifully handcrafted lap quilts as gifts to many of PCECR’s residents. The students named their project “Quilts of Hope” in the hope that they would brighten someone’s day – and that they did!

The residents had gathered in the lobby of PCECR to greet the young people and were eager to pose for photos as they were given a colorful, personally designed quilt. The teens interacted with the residents and brightened their day with conversation and laughter.

Under the guidance of Transition Linkage Coordinator Cherryann Ferguson, the students obtained grant funding and donations for the project and under the banner “Each One Teach One,” they produced some extraordinary quilts. It will be a day long remembered by the residents at Peninsula Center for Extended Care and Rehabilitation, who proudly use these beautiful gifts.
