Van Driver Loses Control, Sends Four To Hospital


A van belonging to the Tejet Transportation Company driven by Valentin Petruyev, 55, of Brooklyn lost control in the westbound lane of Beach Channel Drive at Beach 136 Street at about 2 p.m. on Tuesday, crossing the centerline into the eastbound lane, striking a 2000 Chevrolet driven by Breezy Point resident Catherine Lennon, 76. The accident closed Beach Channel Drive for more than an hour. At least four people were hurt in the accident, three in the van and the driver of the automobile. While the van driver refused medical attention, Lennon, Bella Dubuva, 86 and Gregory Sorkin, 86, were transported to the Jamaica Hospital center where they remain in stable condition.
