Scholars’ Academy Golf Team Off To A Good Start
The Scholars’ Academy Golf Team has begun their season and is ready to compete. The first match against Benjamin Cardozo High School on March 25 was highly competitive, but unfortunately, fell short of Cardozo’s talented squad with three losses and two hard fought ties.
For their next match on April 8, the team took on Hillcrest High School. The weather was perfect for golf with lots of sun and a cool breeze. When the team arrived at Kissena Golf Course after being stuck in traffic for 30 minutes, they had little time to practice at the putting greens and were thrown into the match right away.
In a brave effort, the Scholars’ Squad was victorious with a perfect win of 5-0. Members of the Scholars’ Team, Xander McDonald-Smith, Ryan McCabe, Max Kempner, Robert Henschel, Daniel Orlowski, David Sullivan, and Christopher Sanicola brought their skills to the course and went home with their first win under their belts.
On April 13, Scholars Academy came out victoriously again against John Bowne High School with another 5-0. On April 20, the Seawolves recorded a 5-0 victory over Queens High School of Teaching. With a 3-1 record early in the season, the Scholars’ Golf team is looking forward to an excellent year, and hopefully, a seat in the PSAL playoffs.
