PHC Volunteers Awarded
Rockaway residents, Sara Berger and Susan Cohen, were recently honored with the United Hospital Fund’s 2010 Hospital Auxilian and Volunteer Awards at a luncheon held in the Grand Ballroom of the Waldorf-Astoria.
Sara Berger was nominated by the Peninsula Hospital Center Auxiliary for her long-term membership and dedication to the Auxiliary and Susan Cohen was nominated by the Hospital Center for her outstanding volunteer work. “Sara is well-known in the Hospital Center as an ardent advocate, long-standing active member of our Auxiliary and as a volunteer at each and every blood drive held at the Hospital Center,” said Sheila Schwartz, President of the PHC Auxiliary. “It was our pleasure to nominate her.” Liz Sulik, Director of External Affairs and the Volunteer Department at the hospital, nominated Susan Cohen for the volunteer award. “Susan gave seven hours a day, five days a week of her time assisting in the Emergency Department during the past year and set a new standard for dedication,” said Sulik. “Our Auxiliary members and volunteers play an integral role at the Hospital Center and certainly deserve our accolades for freely giving of their time and efforts.”
More than 90 New York City hospital auxilians and volunteers were honored for their exemplary service over the past year by the United Hospital Fund. Each honoree was invited to a special reception prior to the awards ceremony and received an engraved crystal award to commemorate this special occasion.
