Friendly Argument Leads To Murder

By Howard Schwach
An argument between two friends turned ugly on April 9 when one of the two whipped out a knife and stabbed the other in the chest, killing him, police sources say.

The April 9 stabbing murder took place in front of 11-27 Nameoke Street. The April 9 stabbing murder took place in front of 11-27 Nameoke Street. Enmer Delgado, 29 of Jamaica Queens, and Juan Vasquez, 22 of Far Rockaway, were standing with a woman and two other men outside of 11-27 Nameoke Street at about 8:10 p.m. when an argument broke out.

While police are unsure of what caused the argument, they say that Delgado threatened Vasquez and Vasquez pulled out a knife.

Vasquez stabbed Delgado once in the chest as the others looked on in horror, police reports say.

One of the witnesses called the 911 emergency system and Delgado was transported to St. John’s Episcopal Hospital in Far Rockaway, where he died about 40 minutes later.

Vasquez fled into 11-27 Nameoke Street, but cops quickly corralled him. Court records show that he threw the knife out of his apartment window, but that police recovered it after his admission that he had tried to get rid of the bloody evidence.

He was arraigned on April 11 on charges of second degree murder, tampering with evidence and criminal possession of a weapon.

Vazquez was remanded without bail, and will remain in custody at least until his next court date, which is set for April 26.
