Azoro was awake and aware, police say, but refused to cooperate with the responding officers.

Sources say that Azoro refused to identify himself to police and would not say who shot him.

An ambulance from the Emergency Medical Service responded and transported Azoro to Jamaica Hospital’s trauma center, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Records show that Azoro had been convicted of drug dealing and had been arrest- ed at least eight other times, including a 2008 charge of attempted murder.

Police believe that Azoro’s murder was in retaliation for an earlier assault.

This was the second homicide in the 101 Precinct this year, officials say. There were nine homicides in the precinct in 2009.

Anybody with information on the murder is urged to call the 101 Precinct Squad at 718-868- 3429.
