BCVFD Hosts Food Drive

The Broad Channel Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance Corps will conduct a non-perishable item food collection drive later this month and into May. They are asking for donations to be dropped off at the following collection points:

St Camillus and St Virgilus Church, April 25 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Dayton Towers, 107-10 Rockaway Beach Boulevard, Tuesday, May 4 from 6 p.m. to 9p.m.

106-20 Rockaway Beach Boulevard, Tuesday, May 11 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

1 Beach 105Street, Tuesday, May 18, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Waldbaum’s, Beach Channel Drive and Beach 113 Street, May 2 and May 16 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The BCVFD Firehouse will accept donations any evening in April and May from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

These items will be donated to needy families in the communities of Broad Channel and The Rockaways. All donations are accepted. They will also welcome paper goods and household items useful to the kitchen and home. “Needy families are in our neighborhoods,” BCVFD officials said. “Many neighbors are out of work due to the economic downturn and are struggling to hold on to their homes. We all know how the monthly food bill affects our budget; even a short reprieve from this burden can make the difference between paying our rent or mortgage and falling behind. Every little bit helps.”
