Inhumane Treatment Of BC Dog

Dear Editor,

I’m responding to Edna’s letter from last week regarding my complaints about Buster’s Marine and how he mistreats the poor dog he has in the front of his business.

I have called the ASPCA and they said that what I was describing didn’t meet enough criteria (I won’t go into specifics in case anyone else wants to get away with these loopholes). I’ve even appealed to someone who lives in Broad Channel and knows the business owner. Basically the owner doesn’t care. He said the ASPCA has been down there and he’s not breaking any laws and these “animal people” should be more concerned about the homeless people on the streets instead of a dog. Also he added in that he has an ASPCA officer as a customer! How that person could do business with this man is beyond me!

I don’t know what makes him think that homeless people aren’t a concern to me. The difference here is “people” have a voice and can ask for help, animals can’t. And by the way to the owner of Buster’s Marine ... maybe I am one of these “animal people” you speak of. I’d rather be that than a cold, obnoxious person like you are!

Edna, I don’t know the ASPCA officer you’re speaking of but maybe you can contact them, too. Maybe if they get enough complaints something will be done.
