Weinstein were pleased to host a delegation from the Shalom Task Force, a leading agency dealing with domestic violence, in Albany to discuss with legislators the wide range of services and programs they offer.

“The Shalom Task Force provides invaluable services in helping to curb domestic violence and assisting its victims. Increased funding and broadening support is paramount to protect families struggling with abusive situations,” said Pheffer.

There has been a recent increase of occurrences of domestic abuse and Shalom Task Force has responded by expanding their services to offer a new legal aid service for victims (Sarah’s Voice), rabbinic training programs, in addition to their domestic abuse hotline, preventative educational programs in Jewish day schools, marital education programs and community outreach events.

“Domestic violence is a very serious problem,” said Mayersohn. “Bringing it to light and helping the victims is very important work. The Shalom Task Force is a key tool for the community in the battle against domestic violence, and I am pleased to be able to support their work.”

Shalom Task Force is also beginning a new program, Linking Hearts – Lifting Lives, which will promote economic recovery and expand direct services to underserved victims of domestic violence in New York City.

“Shalom Task Force, employing a great amount of discretion, treats domestic violence victims and their families with the utmost respect throughout the often long healing process. I feel privileged to support the program and commend their staff of dedicated volunteers,” said Weinstein.
