St. Francis Teams One Win Away From CYO Championship

St. Francis will be represented in the Final Four of the Diocese of Brooklyn’s Boys CYO Basketball Championships by the Pee Wee Blue and Intermediate teams this weekend.

Coach John Moran’s Pee Wees have beaten St. Gabriel, St. Kevin, and St. Margaret last weekend to advance to face St. Adalbert this Saturday, March 20 at 10:00 a.m. The game will be held at Archbishop Molloy High School. Our Lady of Lourdes takes on Our Lady of the Angelus in the other semifinal. The championship is scheduled for Sunday, 2:30 p.m. at Monsignor McClancy High School.

Coach Ray Corrigan’s Intermediates have evoked memories of Rupp’s Runts as they have overcome a lack of height to eliminate St. Robert, Sacred Heart, and now St. Cecilia. They take on defending champion St. Mark at 8:00 p.m. this Saturday at Molloy.

If they win, they will need to bounce back quickly for a Sunday 1:15 p.m. championship game at McClancy against either Visitation or OLPH.

The Novice Boys lost a close one to Our Lady of Hope this past weekend while the Rookies fell to St. Teresa.

If you are really up for a great day of basketball, head to Molloy at 10:00 a.m. and then travel to SFDS to watch the Peggy Boyle Championships. Make sure you get your hand stamped for the return trip to Molloy at 8 p.m.
