Mildred Louise Jackson- Wright
Mildred Louise Jackson-Wright, a longtime Rockaway resident, died February 28.
Jackson-Wright was born July 24, 1921 in Bamberg, South Carolina. She was a member of Thankful Baptist Church in South Carolina and Macedonia Baptist Church in Far Rockaway under late Reverend Samuel Hunt. She served on the Senior Choir and was also a deaconess. She also attended Rush Temple AME Church in Jamaica, New York.
Jackson-Wright is preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and Vernon Nelson; four brothers, Aaron, Glen, Charles and Vernon; three sisters, Thelma, Dorothy and Pearl; son, Reginald; daughter-in-law, Paulette Jackson; and her first husband, Henry Jackson.
She is survived by her son, Henry Leroy; daughter, Phyllis; six grandchildren, Lamont (Victoria), Cheri, Terrill (Monique), India, Kamyah, and Kimberly; 11 great-grandchildren, Lamont Jr. (Victoria), Terrill Jr., Larry, Kaheim, Neteaka, Tehaila, Rakim, Cassiah, Kindre, and Mariyah; greatgreat grandchild Nyzaire; sister-inlaw, Lois Nelson; nephew Glenn (Denise); evangelist Alberta Coulter and Sis Cora Thompson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbors.
Funeral arrangements and memorial service were entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney Friendship Chapel, Inwood, New York. Interment took place at Forest Park Cemetery, Morganville, New Jersey.
