Capitol One Theatre Westbury
The Comedians of Chelsea Lately, starring Jo Koy, Whitney Cummings, Chris Franjola and Chuy will perform at the Theatre at Westbury on Saturday, March 27 at 8 p.m.
Chelsea Lately is a late night comedy show that airs on the E! Television Network, Monday to Friday at 11:00 p.m. The daily program offers a tongue-in-cheek look at entertainment news, celebrity truths and rumors that just won’t die, and other hot topics of the day. Consistently the highest-rated program on E!, Chelsea Lately has been picked up through 2012, providing Chelsea with the perfect showcase for what she does best: comment on pop culture and entertainment news while interacting with the public.
Jo Koy is a regular guest at Chelsea Handler’s roundtable discussion on E!’s Chelsea Lately. With his catchy phrase, “I Love Orange Chicken,” Koy continues to embark on a comedy career that transcends his goals. Named as one of the “10 comics to watch” of 2007 by Daily Variety, Koy continues to raise his fame and stature in the comedy and entertainment world. While on stage, he mixes a lively physical presence with full energy, sharp observational humor, and inspirational-family-based laughs. His unique energetic stand up comedy performance is a big hit with fans of all ages and racial backgrounds.
During the past ten years, Koy has starred in several TV stand-up specials from BET’s Comic View to Jamie Foxx Presents: Laffapalooza! In 2005, he received his highest honor after his performance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno when he became one of only a select few ever to receive a standing ovation in the history of the show. In 2006, Koy was part of Carlos Mencia’s “Punisher Tour” performing stand-up comedy in front of fans filling 10,000-seat arenas across the country. He has won the Showtime at the Apollo and has also performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Last Call with Carson Daly and Comedy Central Presents. Koy tours the comedy club circuits nationwide and performs internationally and is currently filming his TV show for Comedy Central.
Whitney Cummings is also a frequent guest on Chelsea Lately. Along with being a comedian, she is also an actress and was cast on the MTV hit series Punk’d. Cummings has made various appearances on other television shows such as Last Call with Carson Daily, The Tony Rock Project, HBO’s Down and Dirty with Jim Norton, and NESN’s Comedy All-Stars. Cummings was a guest of The Howard Stern Show and made an appearance in the 2008 movie Made of Honor. Cummings had her own standup comedy program, Live! Nude! Comedy! which premiered on Showtime in 2009. That same year she appeared on the Comedy Central Roast of Joan Rivers.
Chris Franjola is a writer and producer for the Chelsea Lately show and he is often a guest on Chelsea’s roundtable. He is also stand up comic and made an appearance in the 2009 mockumentary The Mother of Invention.
Chuy Bravo, Chelsea Handler’s assistant, participates in many of the sketches and video segments on Chelsea Lately and often interviews audience members. In his spare time, Chuy moonlights as an actor and can be seen in The Rundown, starring The Rock, and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End. And he can now add author to his list of desirable traits. His very first book, Little Nuggets of Wisdom: Big Advice from the Small Star of Chelsea Lately will be released this year. Chuy is single, lives in the prestigious San Fernando Valley and drives a Toyota Corolla. Watch out, ladies!
