Three Exhibits And A Bust

One of the artworks in “Bodies of Work,” on exhibit in sTudio 7 in RoCA, Fort Tilden. Presently on view in sTudio 6 and sTudio 7, respectively, are “To Our Idols” and “Bodies of Work.” In “Bodies,” each artist brings his or her vision to the exploration of one of the oldest, if not the oldest, subjects to excite and intrigue the imagination – of the artist and the viewer.

Clothed or naked; alone or in communion; in dynamic motion or paused, we are fascinated by ourselves and those fellow unique, di-verse creatures we call human beings. Let’s face it – we’re fascinating.

“To Our Idols” asks the questions: who fires our imaginations; who inspires and influences us; whom do we admire?

The answers form the framework of “To Our Idols.” As in “Bodies,” the artists look inward and reflect outward for the answers.

The Seventh Annual Immigrant Heritage Week is being held April 15 – 21. RAA’s “40 Shades of Green” exhibition and the Jacob Riis Bust Dedication in Gateway NRA have been selected by the organizers of the citywide celebration as an official event partner for IHW 2010. It will also be featured in the IHW calendar that will highlight other free programs that reflect the core theme, NYC Immigrants: Celebrating Our Immigrant Heritages. More about the Fort Tilden event in a future column.
